Brave mechanic class hint

The Brave mechanic lets you stack up four commands at a time but at the cost of having to wait four turns to perform another action. Classes that rely on mana (such as Black Mages) are not suited for this tactic since they'll burn through their mana pool and possibly not finish off a large group of enemies, thus leaving them open for punishment for four turns afterweard. However, high-DPS classes like the Monk are better suited for the Brave mechanic as their speed and strong normal attacks can wipe out enemies in those four turns.

Easy money and elixir hint

Note: the Thief class (unlocked in the first sub-quest) and access to the level 25 nemesis "Mammon" in Norende is required for this trick. When fighting Mammon you can steal either an elixir or an ether. Go in, use Brave x4 and steal with your Theif, and set all of your other characters to run. If your Theif has the highest agility in your party (a safe bet), they will go first. Once you find a Mammon that carries an elixir, be sure to hit "protect" on it from the Norende screen. She will always drop the elixir, and as long as you don't defeat her and just keep stealing and running, you will steal an infinite supply of elixirs. You can either sell them for 25,000 pg each or save them for your own use as they heal 9999 hp and 999 mp. This works better when your Theif reaches Level 11 as the Rob Blind ability gives you a chance to steal two items, bringing your haul up to 50,000 pg per steal.

Dimension's Hasp dungeon **Updated 7 months ago**

Gaining access to the Dimension's Hasp extra dungeon depends on the ending you have earned. In the bad (Finale) ending, see DeRosso in the Vampire Castle after the part involving the unbeatable Boss at the start of the Finale. In the good (The End) ending, talk to Yulyana after the initial Bosses you are supposed to defeat. The Dimension's Hasp extra dungeon is located in the center of the crescent-shaped island in the northeast corner of the map.

The bonus Boss is hidden at the end of the dungeon on B10F. Once there, move east of the final chest (with the Durandal inside), and then go south. Most enemies in this dungeon drop X-Potions or Turbo Ethers, some a Remedy, Dragon Fang or Gold Hourglass. Enemies on B9 can drop a Lustrous Shield while Blue Chests offer more items, including Hermes Shoes.

Special Moves explanation

Special Moves are weapon-based moves unlocked by rebuilding Norende. Each special move has a condition that must be met using a specific weapon type. Once unlocked, the move can be used in battle in a character specific cutscene, complete with that character's theme song. A party wide buff comes into effect for the duration of the theme song, and there are ways to extend and even expand your party's buffs. By using the Special Move with another character before the previous song ends, the new move's music will carry over the previous buff, allowing you to combine attacks and set up effective combos. This also works when Summoning a friend's special move, so make sure to send and receive all that you can.

The ability to use Special Moves is unlocked partway through the Intro of the game. After that, new moves can be unlocked by upgrading the Special Move Shop in the Norende Town. Each can be further customized with modifiers found by upgrading the various Parts shops found in Norende. Each Special Move comes with 4 modifiers that can be swapped out and upgraded at any time from the Special menu.

Unlock Special Movie via Konami Code

On the main menu of the title screen, move your curser over the mysterious ????? option and enter the legendary Konami code (UP(2), DOWN(2), LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A). A voice yelling "Tiz!" will confirm correct code entry and the bottom option will change to "Special Movie". The secret movie, normally unlocked by completing the game, bridges the stories of Bravely Default and it's sequel currently in development. Early fast leveling hint

The Monk profession is the best way to raise levels fast early in the game since it's not only the first damage dealing class (with very high DPS) but you also don't have to constantly upgrade your weapons since Monks do more damage when NOT holding weapons. Do the following steps to power level early in the game:

  • Obtain the Monk job by defeating the first Boss in the game.
  • Equip the Monk Job to three of your four characters while keeping one of them a White Mage to heal your party.
  • Always Optimize your equipment loadout as optimizing will automatically equip or unequip items that are necessary for your class. In this case, it will just automatically unequip all of your Monks' weapons.
  • Set your Encounter Rate to +100% to ensure you'll be attacked often. To do this, enter the Menu Screen, then Tactics, then Config, then Difficulty, and finally Encounter Rate.
  • Roam the World Map and find a fight. During the fight, Brave four times with each Monk in your party and then Default with the White Mage (you may win in one turn).
  • Keep roaming until you find another battle, then press Y. This will now set your battles to Auto and it will reuse the same tactics from the previous turn/battle. This way, simply keep getting into fights to have your party destroy monsters with ease and earn you loads of experience.

Note: This technique is also effective for leveling up another character's job since two Monks in a party can defeat a good number of enemies.

The Auto Battle mechanic allows you to press Y to have your character/party repeat the same tactics from the previous turn over and over. This is excellent for grinding and leveling since now you can tear up enemies without having to Brave each turn. Note that you can press Y to get out of Auto Battle if your party is in trouble.

Encounter Rate option

One of the most acclaimed features in Bravely Default is the option of altering the encounter rate of monsters whenever you desire. Simply enter the Menu Screen, then Tactics, then Config, then Difficulty, and finally Encounter Rate. This option allows you to increase your encounter rate to the point where monsters attack you twice as often, or turn it off completely to walk around freely without having to fight. Use this feature to grind when necessary, explore dungeons and such without having to fight, etc.

More Villagers without StreetPass (demo)

Living in an area where StreetPassing is rare can make things tough as to how you can unlock bonus content. However, there is a way to add villagers to your crew even without StreetPass if you take advantage of an opportunity early in the proceedings. First, reach the point in the demo where you receive a quest asking you to kill Adamantite. Before speaking to the villager located between the spell and equipment shops, make sure that you save your progress. Once done, talk to the villager and you'll receive one additional villager. After verifying that your villager count has gone up, talk to the Adventurer and go with the "To title" option. Load your save file and you can repeat the process as desired.

Note: This trick is intended for the demo version, but you should also be able to transfer any villagers encountered in the demo to the full game.
