Wall merging easter eggs

  • There are several little secrets and easter eggs that can be seen once Link gains the ability to merge into walls:

  • Merge into the wall in Link's house and slide behind Majora's Mask to make it seem as if he is wearing the mask.

  • Many houses in Kakariko Village have portraits and paintings that Link can merge behind, such as a mask of Makar from Wind Waker, a Cucco head, and even a Skull kid head in Thieves' Town.

  • The Stylish Woman in Kakariko blows Link a kiss whenever he enters the house, but she's also gotten lipstick on the right wall. Merge along the wall to see what Link looks like with lipstick on his face.

  • When you enter Hyrule Castle with the Master Sword, Link can merge along the paintings to retell the events of Link to the Past by taking the place of the Link in the painting.

  • Link's appearance while wall merging differs depending on the tunic he has equipped and if he is holding a lantern. Even the border that forms as he merges changes color depending on his tunic.

MaiaMia Baby Locations: Lorule **Updated 10 months ago**

One of the biggest sidequests is Mother MaiaMia, who has lost her 100 babies across Hyrule and Lorule. For every 10 babies you find, she'll upgrade your rented items from Ravio. Find them all tolearn a powerful, upgraded spin attack. First talk to Mother MaiaMia to start the quest by heading just southeast of Link's house toward Lake Hylia. Look along the northern edge of the water to find a blocked cave with a sign warning of a monster inside. Use a Bomb to open the cave and talk to Mother MaiaMia, then find all 100 babies by searching the following places:
Thieves' Town/Swamp Palace/Lorule Castle
BABY LOCATION
Baby #51 Find the small, destroyed house in the southwest corner of Thieves' Town. Lorule's first baby is attached to a wall there.
Baby #52 The next baby is actually in the grass surrounding the Bomb Flower at the Bomb Flower Shop just south of town.
Baby #53 Go to the Rupee Rush game. A baby is attached to the northern cliff wall there.
Baby #54 Now head to the Octoball Derby game. Break up the trio of skulls near the baseball diamond to reveal a baby inside one. Morbid, eh?
Baby #55 This is one is high up on a cliff wall directly south of Octoball Derby. You'll need to use the equivalent rift in Hyrule to reach it.
Baby #56 Go to the Swamp Palace, but stop by the swampy water just north of the dungeon itself. In the deep water here is another baby.
Baby #57 Southeast of the Swamp Palace is a trio of columns with a baby atop. Use a Pegasus Boots charge to knock it loose.
Baby #58 Go directly north to find another baby attached to a cliff wall.
Baby #59 Continue north from Baby #58. Between the Vacant House and the Octoball Derby is this boulder. Lift it to discover a baby beneath.
Baby #60 To the east is the Vacant House itself. Check the ledge behind the house to discover an attached baby.
Baby #61 Go north to Lorule Castle. The first tree to your right has a hidden baby inside. Use a Pegasus Boots charge to reveal it.
Baby #62 This is attached the right wall of the Lorule Castle gate.
Baby #63 Go west to the Blacksmith. This is attached to the left side of the house.
Baby #64 By the Fortune Teller to the north are several boulders. Lift them to discover another baby.
Baby #65 From the Blacksmith, head west to reenter Thieves' Town. Use a Pegasus Boots charge on the first tree you see to pop a baby out from inside its branches.

Skull Woods
BABY LOCATION
Baby #66 There are two southern entrances to Lost Woods proper. Take the eastern one; there's a large boulder blocking the path. Lift it to discover a baby underneath.
Baby #67 Look south between the two entrances to spot this one attached to a wall.
Baby #68 Now head up the western path and enter the woods proper. Follow the path to reach these two puffs of grass. Slice up them up to discover another baby.
Baby #69 Now head to the northwest corner of the woods. Here you'll find a skull surrounded by grass; there's a baby inside this strange arrangement.
Baby #70 Go to the destroyed house just east of the woods (the equivalent of Rosso's house in Hyrule). Look south and use a Pegasus Boots charge into the tree here; you'll shake loose a baby.
Baby #71 Go south to find these trees arranged into a V-pattern. Slice up the purple flowers in the middle to reveal another baby.
Baby #72 There's another baby in this direction, just a bit further south. Enter the pit to find it attached to a wall.
Baby #73 From #72, move west. Just beyond the gateway for Thieves' Town, you can see this baby attached to a cliff wall.

Graveyard
BABY LOCATION
Baby #74 There's a big boulder just outside of the Lorule Sanctuary. Underneath is a baby.
Baby #75 The next baby is attached to the wall north of the Graveyard proper.
Baby #76 Follow this region until it wraps southeast. Use a Pegasus Boots charge on the tree here to shake loose a baby.

Original Zelda easter eggs **Updated 10 months ago**

  • After completing the Thief's Hideout area, you will meet the same girl at a cave just southwest from Link's house. After you open the treasure chest, she will tell you to "Keep this a secret to everybody," a recently-popular phrase used by a generous Moblin in the first Zelda game: "THIS IS A SECRET TO EVERYBODY."

  • Talk to the Lakeside Item Seller in Lorule to hear him say"... Ay lliw nihtemos yub..." , which is "buy something will ya" backwards, a phrase used by a seller in the original Zelda.

Maimai Majora's Mask easter egg

After collecting all 100 Maiamai's, go talk to Rovio and then again to Mother Maiamai. A strange event occurs where she informs Link that she and her children are leaving to another dimension. Leave the cave after the conversation and then return to find that one of the little Maimai stayed behind, specifically the 72nd child. The fact that Termina from is also a different dimension from Hyrule in Ocarina of Time and that 72 hours is the time you have before the Moon crashes into Clock Town could make this a reference to Majora's Mask.

Treacherous Tower hint

To easily defeat nearly every floor of the Treacherous Tower, use the Great Spin attack and Tornado Rod together. Since most enemies will charge at you, use the Tornado Rod to stun them. Then, charge the Great Spin Attack and unleash it to take out almost every enemy on the field. Repeat this until you defeat every enemy on the floor. Note: This doesn't work well for only a few floors, such as ones that have ice enemies (which require a fire attack to defeat).

Master Ore Locations

Find all four Master Ore pieces by searching the following locations and performing the corresponding tasks:
MASTER ORE PIECE LOCATION/HOW TO FIND
Piece #1 Thieves' Hideout; After you find the Thief Girl and escort her out of the dungeon, you'll encounter a room in the Basement filled with water. At the southwest corner of this room, there are a pair of floor switches. Step on one switch and have the thief girl step on the water, making the nearby wall open. Run down the long hallway and open the treasure chest to get the Master Ore.
Piece #2 Skull Woods; Located in one of the last rooms of the dungeon where Link needs to get the two Eyeballs. One of the eyeballs is found on the higher ledge at the south end of the room. There is a large treasure chest just north of the eyeball. Link can merge along the wall to reach the treasure chest that holds the Master Ore.
Piece #3 Dark Palace; Note: Bombs are required. On the 2nd floor of the Dark Palace is a room with six windows where light shines in. Just north of this room there is a small rectangular room with a treasure chest. In order to reach this room, first be sure the platforms in the center of the room are lowered. There are two switches, and while both activate the platforms, the lower switch also causes the wall to the north to flip when it is hit. Place a bomb next to the bottom switch and quickly run northward to the platform above. Strike the nearby switch to get to the higher ledge and run to the northern wall. Once the bomb explodes and hits the southern switch, the wall will flip, causing Link to enter the small rectangular room. Open the treasure chest to get the Master Ore.
Piece #4 Lorule Graveyard; Note: Titan's Mitt are required. Head to the Sanctuary in Hyrule and use the crack to enter Lorule. Exit to the south and walk eastward to the graveyard. At the northeast corner of the graveyard, use the Titan's Mitt to lift the big boulder and head down the steps. Press the switch found at the west side of this cave and go through the door that opens, then make your way to the northwest part of the room and climb the steps. Walk along the path to the right until you reach a treasure chest. Merge along the wall to the east and walk on over to the small key. Use the locked on the locked door to the northwest. Take out the three red Eyegores that appear and then head up to the next room. Pull the switch on the right and then head up the staircase.Merge along the wall to the right to reach the large treasure chest and open it to get the Master Ore.
